DRAMA

History
The breed of Drama Sheep was already mentioned in the 1970s as a variation of the Vlach sheep breed. It is a small-sized, coarse-woolled and thin-tailed sheep. It has an extensive colour range from white with spotted heads and limbs to solid black. It is a late maturing breed with low meat and milk production but with great longevity and hardiness. Until the 1990s the breed’s population was 1,500-2,000 animals. Its stronghold was the village of Volakas with its main breeding areas extending south and west of Falakron Mountain. There are no recent references to the breed and the last pure herds are deemed extinct due to uncontrolled cross-breeding.

Population
